Pojia Tsang
Welcome to Lasting Love Contemporary Oil Portraiture. I am a contemporary artist based in Greater Vancouver, British Columbia, with ten years of experience in oil painting and an educational background in contemporary art from a Canadian university. I am now pleased to offer personalized portrait commissions to the public as a professional artist.
My style is inspired by the genre of Magical Realism, in which ordinary reality becomes intertwined with imagined and extraordinary sensations — a world where the boundaries between reality and imagination can become difficult to distinguish. My influences include Frida Kahlo, the Impressionists, Vincent van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, and Henri Rousseau, as well as Gabriel García Márquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude and the visual language of 1980s and 1990s manga.
I use the term Pojia Tsang and Contemporary Magical Realism to distinguish my work from traditional portraiture and the Old Masters — yet my work shares their belief in the power of art to transcend ordinary human experience, and to bring us into a realm that feels valuable, beautiful, and meaningful.

The Sitting
A personal sitting and video-photography session with the subject is highly recommended — it allows me to observe directly, and to capture the subtle details, expressions, personality, and essence that photographs alone may not fully convey.

Your portrait takes shape in oils — likeness first, then the dreamlike world around it, in the vivid colour language of Pojia Tsang and Contemporary Magical Realism.

A surprise gift?
Under special circumstances — such as when the portrait is intended to be a surprise — digital photographs can be used as the primary reference material instead of a sitting.
